Bayside Yoga at Shake-A-Leg Miami

Bayside Yoga is a beautiful way to enjoy the sweet summer evenings of Biscayne Bay.  Open yourself up physically and mentally every Tuesday & Thursday evenings at 6pm.  Join one of Tropic Yoga’s vinyasa teachers as they guide you through a slow-flow class designed for beginners through advanced practitioners.  Bring your own mat or use one of ours.  50% of the suggested donation of $10 goes directly to Shake-A-Leg for their Health & Wellness programming.  Because the class takes place with exposure to the elements, if the weather looks threatening, please call the Shake-A-Leg reception at 305.858.5550 ext 123 after 4:30pm to inquire if class will take place.  If you have any questions please call Kim Hess at 305.672.4307 or 208.739.3997cell.

Explore body, mind and spirit!

Specializing in leading safe, dynamic classes with clear instructions Kim fosters a fun-loving environment where everyone can work at thier own personal threshold.

Vinyasa Flow 60-75 minutes

Bringing together breath and movement into a dynamic yet gentle flow, this class gives all participants the opportunity to create a practice that suites their individual abilities and skill level.

Power Vinyasa 75-90 minutes

Adding a bit more power to the vinyasa flow along with some playful advanced postures, this class builds power within the core as it lengthens and opens the muscles and mind through commitment, exploration, play and sometimes laughter.

Sweet & Spicy 75 minutes

This class builds heat within the body (spicy) by holding postures for extended periods of time. We learn to breathe through any uncomfort and notice sensations within the body without judgment. We blend the Spicy heat building postures with some juicy long-held, very Sweet indeed, postures that lengthen and open the body, finding the perfect marriage between yin and yang. Yummy!

Yoga Nidra 45 minutes

Nidra = sleep. Yogic Sleep. Yoga Nidra is a state of conscious deep sleep. In yoga nidra, you leave the waking state, go through the dreaming state, and into the deep sleep state, yet remain fully awake. An invitation for your attention to go deep into the stillness and silence. Here you completely let go of any words, thoughts, images, impressions or pictures in the mind--completely empty. Most leave Yoga Nidra feeling energized and grounded.

Gentle Yoga    60 minutes
A gentle yoga class designed specifically for those that have special physical needs, senior, prenatal or simply want a relaxing opening experience.  While encompassing an entire yoga sequence from sun salutations & standing postures to backbends and forward folds, each posture will be modified for each individual body allowing the participants to experience the full spectrum of a yoga class in an easy and relaxed environment.  Will include meditation some restorative postures.

Meditation  Classes     60 minutes
    1.  Ongoing meditation practice will include discussion and examination of various techniques including silence, tones, concentration, guided  visualization & observation.
    2.  Meditation 101:  an 8 week course for beginners, will include handouts, discussion and meditation.

Beach Walk 60 minutes

This time can be structured as a walking meditation done in silence, or an informational discussion done while walking. Will include light stretching after.

Private Yoga

Personalized Yoga Coaching:
If you want to deepen your understanding of the postures enhancing your knowledge and experience of yoga, one-on-one instruction is essential. We will focus on alignment and the how and why of the postures, working with modifications or variations of the postures to fit your individual needs. In addition to taking your asana (posture) practice to a new level, you will have the opportunity to dive deeper into the spiritual realm of yoga with meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques) and deep relaxation with yoga nidra.
Each session is 75-90 minutes in length and includes meditation, asana and breathing. 10 session minimum package (1-2 persons)

Personal Instruction:
Following a grounding meditation, I will guide you through a vinyasa sequence intermixed with thai-yoga bodywork and adjustments within each posture for a complete and personalized hands on yoga practice. A delicious treat for yourself or a gift for a friend. Sessions are 60-90 minutes in length. $108.00 Suggested purchase of 10 sessions for maximum benefit.
(limited to 1 person)

Developing a Home Practice:
Establishing a regular home practice will allow you to increasingly experience the beneficial effects of yoga. Using my book Yoga Onboard as a guide, we will go through each posture in sequence, addressing questions or concerns you may have. Examining personal goals and your lifestyle, we will work together to develop a consistent practice that works for you. Session lengths are 60-75 minutes. Suggested home practice 3-7 days per week. Follow up emails and/or phone calls included for 40 days following initial session. $108 per individual session (includes 1 book) Suggested purchase of 5 weekly sessions for maximum benefit. (1-4 persons)

Special Needs Instruction:
Addressing physical or mental limitations is easily done with individualized attention through private yoga sessions. Adapting physical postures to work within your abilities allows you to experience all of the benefits that yoga has to offer without the challenges of attending a group yoga class. Sessions are 60-75 minutes in length. $108.00 Suggested purchase of 10 sessions for maximum benefit.

Special Occasions:
Do you have a special occasion coming up? Yoga is a great addition for bridal showers and birthday parties or as a gift to your wedding party. Use partner yoga as a team building tool for your employees or simply as a beautiful way for you and your friends to connect. Times and prices vary according to event.

Personal Consultation:
Meet with Kim for 30-60 minutes to determine what your
individual needs, desires and goals are. Various options will be examined to design a course of action that will be best suited for you. Body, mind and spiritual goals will all be addressed. $50

  Yoga Anywhere, Anytime, Any-body:  Adapting Your Practice to Your Lifestyle
            We will address spatial issues and physical disabilities or conditions, and how to  integrate the practice of yoga into your everyday

    What is Yoga?
            A brief look at the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali and how they can be applied to our lives today

     Body Consciousness
            A introduction into the relationship between the body, mind and spirit.  We will look at all the ways in which we manifest our emotions through our physical bodies, how that affects our lives and simple adjustments we can make to live a more balanced life.

     What’s Next?
            Based on my weekend workshop, we will discuss the how’s, when’s and why’s of transforming a physical (hatha) yoga practice into one that  embraces the spiritual aspects of yoga.

    Living Fully
        Using the book FULL CATASTROPHE LIVING using the wisdom of your body and mind to face stress, pain, and illness by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PH.D. as a guide, we will address the dynamics of stress induced lifestyles and how we can change our perspectives in order to change our reactions to perceived stress. (the book is based on the Program of Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center)

 

TEAM BUILDING

Full day events will include low ropes events, ice-breaker activities and interactive lectures on teambuilding.
